A couple days ago I told you about a reading challenge I'm participating in during the month of September. It's called the "Southern Belle" challenge, and the idea is to read books set in the South. It is hosted by Brenda Gail at Curling Up With a Good Book.
I got four books from the library today to get me started...
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg

The Secret Life of Bees: A Novel by Sue Monk Kidd

My Summer of Southern Discomfort by Stephanie Gayle

Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews

I've been meaning to read Fried Green Tomatoes. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteA couple suggestions, if you end up reading more books for this challenge: Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is set mostly in Arkansas, and Gin Phillips's The Well and the Mine is set in Alabama.
Thanks MJ! My sister read Fried Green Tomatoes a while ago, and acutally did a guest blog about it. She's been urging me to read it for weeks, and I thought the challenge would be a good time to do it. I'm really hoping that I can get throught these books in a week or two, and I've been looking for other things to read if I do. Thanks for the suggestions and I will definitely look for those even if I don't get to them during the challenge. Thanks for commenting!
