"Like Water for Chocolate"...The Book And The Movie

A while ago I read Like Water for Chocolate.  I really liked it, but it's one of the strangest books I've ever read.  Last night I had the opportunity to watch a movie version of the book.  I liked it as well, but I found it just as strange as the book.

I found the movie version on Netflix.  It's in Spanish but subtitled.  If you've never read the book or watched the movie and are looking for something different, give both a try.

  1. This one is really strange! I took a class in Magical Realism when I was in college, and we read this book. I do like the movie, though. The author does some even stranger things in her book "The Law of Love." It goes back in time, and the book has pictures and a CD of music. As I recall, there is a point in the novel where you have to play the CD and look through the pages. It is very different, but fun, too!

  2. Thanks Susie! I'll look for "The Law of Love". It does sound fun.
